The essentials, plainly
Per-account data isolation
Each customer's books live in their own separate database — not shared tables with a tenant column. Your data doesn't sit next to anyone else's.
AES-256-GCM encryption at rest
Sensitive data is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. The keys that protect your bank connection are kept apart from the data they unlock.
Read-only bank connections via Plaid
Bank links go through Plaid and are read-only — BucketBooks reads transactions to build your books, and cannot move money.
Amazon: settlement reports, and nothing else
When you authorize BucketBooks in Seller Central, it asks for one role — Amazon's Finance and Accounting role — and nothing more. What it reads is your settlement reports: gross sales, every itemized fee, and the net payout. That is what your books are built from. It never asks Amazon for your product listings, your inventory levels, or your buyers' details.
Read-only in Seller Central — disconnect any time
BucketBooks can read those reports and nothing else — it cannot change a price, edit a listing, move inventory, or touch an order in your Seller Central account. The authorization itself is stored encrypted, the same as your bank connection, and you can disconnect it from inside BucketBooks whenever you want. The books you have already built stay yours.
Stripe for payments
Subscriptions are billed through Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe, not to us — BucketBooks never sees or stores your card number.
You own your books
One-click full export — a SQLite file plus CSVs — any time, on any plan. It keeps working even if your subscription lapses. No hostage, ever.
Replicated and backed up off the box
Your database is replicated continuously to storage that is not on the server, and a consistent backup is taken nightly. Restores are drilled rather than assumed — an untested backup is a rumor, not a backup.
Your bank credentials aren't in your export
One-click export gives you your books; it does not give away your bank. The export's own README says so, and the encrypted connection tokens inside the database file cannot be used without the installation key, which never leaves the server.
AI with guardrails
AI labels and explains; you approve. BucketBooks code does every calculation. AI can propose, never post — and switching AI Assist off leaves the rules-only product fully functional.
Our posture on the things that matter
- No hostage. Cancellation and export are as prominent and easy as signing up. Leaving is never harder than joining.
- We don't overstate. We only describe protections we actually have. We don't claim compliance badges or certifications we haven't earned.
- Books, not tax advice. BucketBooks organizes your data for filing. It doesn't compute taxes, tell you what you owe, or give tax advice.
